Empowering Cybersecurity through Data Literacy at HKCS Forum

Our Founding Chairman Dr. Toa Charm, shared insights on how data literacy empowers cybersecurity at the Hong Kong Computer Society (#HKCS) forum. It was enlightening to learn about cybercrime, data privacy, data security, and data governance from esteemed speakers, including those from #DPO, #Police, #PCPD, #Huawei, and other cybersecurity experts.

Dr. Charm emphasized that democratizing data literacy and governance is essential for sustainably protecting our data assets, rather than relying solely on a central expert team. A big thank you to Dave Chen, Paul Wan, and Dicky Wong from HKCS for inviting him as a keynote and panel speaker and for organizing this valuable platform for sharing experiences.

During the panel discussion, he also expressed the need for Hong Kong to build new competencies to thrive in the AI era. Cybersecurity is not just about protecting data; it also helps companies build trust with partners and customers, similar to how well-regulated FinTech companies gain trust when expanding into markets like ASEAN and the Middle East. Thanks to Eva Kwok, Gary Yiu, and Baron Chan for their contributions as well.

Let’s continue to strengthen our core competencies in data literacy and cybersecurity to compete effectively on the global stage.
