In a recent survey from DataCamp, 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 20% 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐒 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 40% 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟. The key points are:

1. Data is the most valuable asset in the digital economy. Traditional companies must transform and monetize their data assets to stay competitive.

2. The gap between leaders and laggards is defined by how effectively they monetize data. Leading companies use data not just for analysis but to create new revenue streams and drive innovation.

3. Bright and full of opportunities for individuals who are ready to embrace challenges and continuously improve their skills. According a latest industry report on data literacy from DataCamp, companies are willing to pay an attractive salary premium to hire data-literate staff.

4. Data literacy is a booster to strengthen the competenies required in the digital world particularly in AI Era like critical thinking, adaptability, communication across industries and professionals.

5. We need more data experts and our young generation with strong data literacy. In Hong Kong and Asia in general, we do not have enough talent with high data literacy.
